I think I appreciated Sam for (as Barlow explained with regard to his situation) the way those two had pretty unique perspectives as neither insiders (band members) nor outsiders. Both were in a position -by virtue of both role and personality -to tell the organization things that weren't necessarily easy to hear, with prices paid as a result. That kind of thing always spices up a narrative.

Man I could use one of those handy-dandy deals for when people are talking to me at work. I'd just keep hitting the 10-second FF button until they were no longer in my office.
